Main Body (30% max)

  1. All important findings clearly presented (15% max)

A relevant fact left out – 5% each case

Excess details – 5-7%

      No analysis (random description of facts) – 5%

  1. Paragraph structure (15% max)

No topic sentence – 5% each case

Topic sentence not developed or ≠ support – 5% each case

Conclusion (15% max)

      No generalizations (trends revealed) – 5% 

No conclusions drawn – 5%

Coherence & cohesion (20% max)

  1. Faulty logic (hasty conclusions, logical gaps, etc.) – 5% each case
  2. No cohesion within/between paragraphs; inappropriate connectives – 5% each case

Language (20% max)

No use of cautious language – 5%

Mistakes in grammar/lexis – 2% each

Mistakes which hinder understanding – 3% each

Mistakes in style/use of articles/prepositions – 1% each

Mistakes in spelling/punctuation (five and more) – 1-2%
