Overview

During the winter semester students research an issue related to the topics being studied and present the results in the form of a 7-10-minute PPP. The topic of the research should not repeat the subjects covered by the course book.
The presentation is expected to demonstrate students’ ability to use reliable sources of information, analyze and interpret data, and most importantly, presentation skills.
Number of participants – one or two students.


Stage 1. October – December

Identification of the problem, research, preparation of a PPP, presentation of your project work to the group.
If the presentation is well done and meets every requirement, the student(s) will be invited to take part in the Presentation Contest among the students of the 4 th year second language, in which case the slides of the presentation together with an abstract (120-140 words) are to be downloaded to the Google Disk of the competition.


Stage 2, January
Selection of seven finalists by the jury.


Stage 3, February
Two master classes on stage speech for the finalists. Group and individual work on the texts of the talks.


Stage 4, early March (date will be announced later)
Presentation of you project work to the audience. Filming interviews and talks by MGIMO TV Studio.


Prize:
1 st place – 6% to the ESP examination mark.
2nd place – 5% to the ESP examination mark.
3 rd place – 4% to the ESP examination mark.
Winner of the audience’s vote — 4% to the ESP examination mark. Best Question from the audience — 3%
4-7 th places — 3% to the ESP examination mark.
Every finalist gets a video record of their talk.
